Animal Abuse

The excitement was rising in me. I was feeling the joy and happiness in me. As the dog looked at me pitifully, I bashed it up even more.

It all started when I was walking along the streets of Marine Parade with my good friend Marc. The day was hot and I was covered in sweat. As I wiped my sweat away with the back of my palm, I saw a white maltese following us.

‘’Look Marc! There is a dog following us!’’ I exclaimed.

‘’Never mind, it will probably go away after a while. Just leave it alone.’’ said Marc.

So I forgot all about it and continued walking. It did not go away, so I nudged it. Now I was starting to get irritated. I could see Marc’s anger rising too. Suddenly Marc pushed it so hard that it toppled over. Seeing this I decided to join Marc too. After all, I could take out my anger on the dog and seek revenge. I grabbed two long twigs from a nearby tree and passed one of them to Marc. We brought the dog to the void deck and bashed it up. We rained blows on that bad dog with our twigs. Serves it right! Then we kicked it and threw it against the wall.

Suddenly, a little girl came up to me and asked me to stop.

‘’ Who are you to tell me what to do?’’ I cried out as I pushed her aside. Then Marc and I tried to run away before anyone else saw us.

‘’Stop right there!’’ said a security guard. Now I knew I was going to get my just desserts. I was in the wrong and I was about to be punished. He then reprimanded and explained to us that animal abuse was a serious crime.

Never again would I be so cruel as to beat up defenceless animals as I lay on the stone-cold floor in the Boy’s Home.
